Short answer: Yes for VIP Canal Tours: private cruises are operated with a captain, so guests can focus on the city and the experience rather than navigating the canals.
Is the captain included?
Yes. VIP Canal Tours private cruises include a captain.
Can the captain tell us about Amsterdam?
The cruise is personal and local knowledge can be part of the experience, rather than a mass recorded sightseeing format.
Can guests drive the boat?
No assumption should be made that guests may operate the vessel; the captain remains responsible for safe navigation.
Why this matters when booking
Not every Amsterdam canal cruise is the same. Before reserving, check whether the boat is private or shared, the duration, the exact inclusions, the boarding point and whether the vessel suits the season and occasion. VIP Canal Tours keeps the booking options separate so you can choose the experience first and then see availability.
